ALLURE OF ALOHA: LANAI
By Dawna L. Robertson
Known for its seclusion and raw beauty, “Hawaii’s Most Exclusive Island” is ideal for hosting small to moderate-size gatherings.
Once home to the world’s largest pineapple plantation, Lanai features approximately 340 hotel rooms in two luxurious resorts.
The privately-owned island is undergoing a re-branding of its two exclusive properties. Stretching along the coast, the 236-room Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay has reopened with refreshed guest rooms, a new fitness center and remodeled restaurant, as well as enhancements to its spa. Upcountry at Lanai City, the 102-room Lodge at Koele is refurbishing interiors to meet Four Seasons’ standards, although it will remain open throughout the process. The property will be re-flagged as a Four Seasons upon completion at the end of the year (now a Four Seasons property, open as of fall 2006).

Lanai Airport (LNY) is served by regularly-schyeduled flights from Maui and Honolulu. It is located about 3 miles from Lanai City. The airport serves scheduled. Has a new passenger terminal, has rental car facilities. Shuttle service is provided by the two Four Seasons properties, and limo service is also available.
